There is substantial data suggesting that keeping your vitamin D levels up will protect you from H1N1 (Swine Flu) and colds and flu in general.
Take a look at these two articles:

August 2009-Vitamin D3 deficiency and its role in influenza

If the links don’t work, go to www.vitaminD3world.com and look under “In the News” This site offers a good newsletter on Vitamin D updates and recently launched a new micropill formulation of Vitamin D.

Triodos (http://www.triodos.co.uk/) are even better but I think they only offer ISAs currently. I have had a smile account for a while and very impressed.

Although I must admit to still keeping a natwest account but it has no money in it. Do you think it costs them money to keep it open.

Thanks for sharing this Seth. For all the late night conversations on how it should be different you're an inspiration to make some of those changes actually happen. Thank you!

To be fair, I only had a cursory look at their website and found it reasonably difficult to navigate so cannot respond on the issues. Is the issue of the enviroment important? Yes absolutely! I find it just a little shocking that it has been treated as a side issue ever since the late 70s/ early 80s - the signs are pretty clear.

The environment has probably been the most important issue for me as a voter in the past two elections in the Netherlands. These are nowhere near as spectacular or involving as what I've seen in the US - I am deeply impressed and have to admit that when the result came out I had to fight back the tears - unsuccessfully.

President-elect Obama has a very difficult task ahead but I do believe he has a serious environmental agenda and he has my support.

Congratulations to you both on your news Seth!

Good news on the job too. I think when we met you I'd just finished my job. 14 months later I'm still a student/loafer and that's going to continue hopefully until next August/September time (when we have no cash left...)

I'm starting to write my thesis from today, with a Christmas deadline. It's on the subject of suburban food farms (basically looking at Urban Agriculture in the context of a UK town/city) so I'm quite excited about that. Going to be hitting the council/MPs with letters and trying to meet them as it appears most of the work in this area is London-centric.

This all fits in with Transition Towns, Peak Oil, Organic Farming so something I can hopefully become an "expert" in before the system comes crumbling down.

Between looking after the baby and saving the world, I'd recommend reading a book called "how to be free" from Tom Hodgkinson (http://idler.co.uk/news/country-diary-79/). We house-sitted for him in the summer and had a great time. Talks about medieval england and basically is a light-hearted look at the system we've got ourselves into.

It's a bit less heavy reading than Mike Ruppert - I've still not read Crossing the Rubicon, although I mean too. I'm going to subscribe to his blog though, thanks for letting us know about that one...
