BBC 9/11 ‘Conspiracy Files’ Documentary: toeing the party line

February 20, 2007

The BBC’s first episode in a documentary series entitled “The Conspiracy Files” that aired on Sunday night (18/02/07) was painful to watch. It focused heavily on many of the more minor questions raised by the 9/11 Truth movement relying mainly on a few eyewitness accounts and dubious expert interviews to dispel the so-called ‘myths’ at hand.

This documenary is an insidious piece of propaganda in support of the ‘official’ versions of events and against dissenting voices. The lumping together of all critical analysis of events such as 9/11 or the JFK assassination as ‘conspiracy theories’ is an absurd point of view to take. The official 9/11 Commission Report for instance has been proven false on many of its declarations. The proof furnished is entirely real; not supported by ‘theories’ but by facts and documentation. The ‘Conspiracy Files’ reasons that those who question 9/11 are unable to accept the simple truth and find it necessary to “create an explanation that vindicates [their] world view.” If anybody is guilty of this it is the corporate media and 9/11 Commission who have through their own ‘conspiracy theories’ done precisely that for their benefactors.

In short, this episode of the ‘Conspiracy Files’ has served as yet another way to discourage dissenting voices and critical thought, rather than encouraging them. Goebbels was a consumate expert in this area and employed very similar techniques to suppress intellectual critcism of the Nazi regime. If you truly believe that accepting the official version of events is more horrible and difficult on the face of it than accepting the real evidence available to the public (which is a thin argument no matter how you slice it) then you haven’t been paying much attention to the evidence we, the public, have at our disposal.

To the BBC: shame on you for producing this counterproductive rubbish.
